The Joss-Waldvogel (JW) Disdrometer is a ground-based impact-type disdrometer manufactured by Distromet. It uses an electromechanical counter to determine the drop size distribution (DSD) of raindrops. It detects raindrops with diameters from 0.3 to 5.5 mm. The JW Disdrometer can record up to 200 drops per second and has a typical sampling frequency of 1 minute.
